We are very pleased to offer this very charming example of a Datsun 120Y Saloon. This particular example is in unbelievably good condition having been the subject of a significant restoration over recent years, including the sum of £1, 270. 48 spent in December 2023 to correct rough running. One of the things that stand out is the bold factory colour of Turquoise and very good chromework, which along with all the correct badges and original rare hubcaps make this example really stand out from anything of the time. The underside and engine bay are equally as impressive and really show the attention to detail and amount of time lavished to get it to this standard. It has lots of period correct detail such as spare wheel and tools, original dual-band radio, half vinyl / cloth seats and, amazingly, a lot of rare period sales brochures and information.
Considering about 150, 000 Datsun 120Y’s were sold in the UK between 1973 and 1978, it’s a wonder we don’t see more of them. Sadly, it’s because they simply weren’t seen as worthy of note until more recent years, by which time there were not many left, which can only add to the desirably of this time warp car. Coupled with the quality and time that has been lavished, make this one of the best and rarest classic cars available today and one not to be missed for sure. Whoever becomes the next custodian of this gem is certainly going to be proud to own this piece of motoring history. The market for Japanese cars has really taken off in recent times and opportunities such as this don’t come around very often, maybe this is one you don’t want to miss.
