This Morgan 4/ 4 is in very good condition as can be seen in the photographs.
It was registered on 5th September 1990 by the Morgan dealer who registered it the very next day to its initial owner, a gentleman from Barnsley. The car was supplied with full leather interior, wire wheels, boot rack, full weather equipment and tonneau cover.
This owner kept it for three years during which he covered 3203 miles as confirmed by the first MOT certificate.
He then sold it to an enthusiast who was in his late 50's from Wakefield. This second owner used the car very little only covering 400 miles from 1993 until 2010 when he decided to substantially upgrade the engine.
He had the local Ford main dealer fit a gas flowed cylinder head, a Kent performance camshaft and had two twinchoke down draft Weber 45 carburettors replace the single carburettor. A stainless steel 4 branch tubular manifold and full stainless steel exhaust was also fitted.
He then parked it in his warm integral garage and polished it for 14 years without ever using it.
Now in his late 80's he recently contacted us to arrange to sell this car and a very low mileage Ford XR3i that he had owned from new which we have since sold.
The Morgan was collected by trailer and brought back to Leeds where we fitted a new battery and drained all the old petrol. We fitted a new electric petrol pump and refueled it with E5 petrol. The car started but ran erratically.
We took the car to our local MOT station who stripped the brakes and fitted new rear wheel cylinders in order to pass an MOT.
In order to get the car to run correctly we took it to Bogg Brothers, a well respected performance car tuning company in North Yorkshire.
They examined it and found that the compression was lower than it should be so the engine was removed and stripped. This showed that the cause of the low compression was that some of the piston rings were gummed up due to lack of use.
The engine was then rebuilt with the head having being professionally refurbished and new piston rings, new big end shells, new oil pump and new water pump fitted. The cost of this work amounted to £1582 and the invoice for this work is included in the history file.
The car has a current MOT which runs until February 2025 and the current correct recorded mileage is 3673 miles.
The history file contains the current V5, the current MOT, some previous MOT certificates dating back to 1993, some invoices relating to the initial upgrade work and the recent invoice for the engine rebuild.
