Information acquired from the Caterham Cars factory archivist suggests it is highly likely that this is the 1400K launch car, originally shown at the Docklands launch event in July 1991. The chassis number indicates it was the first factory-built Caterham to receive the K Series engine. It may also be the car featured in Chris Rees’ ‘Magnificent Seven’ book........
First registered in August 1991 their records suggest it was sold to a French resident in November 1992, before returning to Caterham for a ‘Supersport’ upgrade and resale in late 1996.
Further changes, including the cycle style wings, quick release steering wheel and harnesses, plus a new keeper, came in 2001.
