We understand that this mighty Buick was imported to the UK in 2012 from California, where it had been stored, unused, for some twenty years. In the then-current custodianship, the motor car was subtly upgraded to road rally specification and we are told that up to 2016, work to the Buick included a full engine rebuild with the fitting of new pistons and rings, new oil pump gears, new modern fuel lines, new throttle linkage and a new NOS BX Stromberg carburettor. The main white metal bearings were checked, the cylinder head refaced and new hardened valve seats, new valves and springs were fitted, amongst other work. The water pump was rebuilt in that period, new silicone hoses installed and the radiator re-cored. The Buick was also rewired and converted to 12 volt and upgraded with a Halogen driving lamp, a Facet fuel pump, new instruments and gauges including an ammeter and a Monit G200, new wire wheels with Lucas tyres and tubes, race specification brake linings and more. In terms of the structure and body, the chassis and springs were fully checked, parts of the ash frame were replaced, the coachwork was repainted and the bumpers rechromed. The interior was renewed at that time with reupholstered seats and door cards, new rubber floor mats etc.
The performance Buick has formed part of a collection in Dorset for the last two and a half years; as the vendor has too many vintage vehicles in his stable and so has made the decision to part with the motor car. It is in superb condition throughout, with lovely paintwork and excellent mechanics, apparently it has been universally admired wherever it has gone.
The V5C registration certificate is supplied.
