The GP200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off of Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 it is said a total of only 9350 DL/ GP200’s were made. The GP200 followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970’s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/ 2 frame and rectangular headlight. There were however significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The electronic version went even further with a 6v electronic ignition and CDI unit and these today are extremely collectible.

This GP200 Electronic was registered new on the 2nd of August 1971 and sold by Bill Beevers Motorcycles Barnsley Sheffield as can be seen on a copy of the Barnsley council vehicle records book (picture shown). Sold to original owner on the 2nd August 71 who kept the scooter for 6 years and lived in Rotherham Road, Handsworth Sheffield. Sold in 1984 on the 15th May to a couple in the Sheffield area who sold the scooter to each other and back again having had owned it for 29 years between them. The scooter was painted Blue in 2006 and it was taken off the road in 2019. Our vendor purchased it in March 2023 and a comprehensive restoration was done by renowned and in demand KTF Scooters of Southport (formerly MS Classics) to a very high standard using original, NOS and quality correct parts to bring it to the very high standard that we can see today.

Although originally ochre (yellow) as we can see on the original copy of the Green log book and now in the correct white Lechler Lambretta colour of 1971 the fastidious level of detail down to the smallest parts can be clearly seen by careful examination of the photographs. Starting with the electrics she has a 6 volt red Ducati CDI 323904 (as the original was faulty) with black wire and the original electronic stator plate with correct fixings and using the correct red HT lead to the CDI. The original 901 CDI is supplied with the scooter and can be reconditioned by Scootronics or replaced with another 901 that can be sourced. The ignition switch is an OSAM. The panels are a superb fit. All of the panels are the originals; all of the bodywork, handlebars with black coloured gear position neutral arrow, headlamp, forks, fork links, rear hub and front disc brake, fuel tank, airbox, rear mudguard and cowlings, stand and panel clips are original. The floor edging ‘Sharks teeth’ are original and align correctly as is the Bomisa leg shield badge. The speedometer is the original as is the black button control switch. The cables are all fastened with the correct straps. The brake adjusters are the original late short versions found on late GPs. Also has the correct original black toolbox and thin rear light gasket. The correct black writing is positioned on the fuel tank. The levers are the the later correct ball end type. The keys that are all present for ignition, toolbox and steering lock which is the original. The smallest details that are often overlooked are present and one needs to examine the photographs to see the way cable ends are finished to see the standard on display here of this rare scooter. The engine has been completely rebuilt to the same standard using all of the original parts including a new GOL piston. The gear and clutch cable gaiters with end tips to finish.

This is a very rare opportunity for the most serious collector of Lambrettas. With this specification and in our opinion high quality restoration of a model that is in demand we expect significant interest in this scooter.
