Unveiled at the 1966 Turin Auto Show, the Maserati Ghibli quickly distinguished itself as a formidable competitor in the grand touring segment, standing alongside legends such as the Ferrari 365 GTB/ 4 Daytona and the Lamborghini Miura. This competitive landscape drove Maserati to refine the Ghibli further, leading to the introduction of the Ghibli SS.

With just about 425 examples of the Ghibli SS coupé produced, it remains a rare and highly sought-after classic. The original Ghibli was equipped with a 4. 7-liter V8 engine that produced around 306 horsepower. The Ghibli SS, however, came with a more powerful 4. 9-liter V8 engine, which increased horsepower to about 335 and allowed it to reach speeds up to 280 km/ h, marking it as one of the fastest cars of its era.

The Ghibli SS, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Ghia, is celebrated for its striking design, featuring a long hood, sleek lines, and a low, elongated silhouette. This blend of elegance and aggressiveness typifies the Italian sports cars of the 1960s and 70s. Beyond its thrilling performance, the Ghibli SS offers a refined level of comfort for two passengers and their luggage, embodying the perfect mix of luxury and speed.

We are pleased to offer this Maserati Ghibli SS, chassis number AM115/ 491948, manufactured on November 25, 1970. Originally delivered in Italy, it featured an elegant Oro Longchamps exterior color paired with a refined black leather interior and was equipped with the SS 4900 engine and the ZF 5-speed manual transmission.

Acquired by its French current owners in 2004, members of the Club Maserati France, the car has been meticulously maintained over the past 20 years. The accompanying documentation - available for review - reveals a history of thorough care, including detailed service records from Landrin Sport et Collection in the Ardennes (2006-2016), from Pierre Nallet's Garage du Trident in 2009, and from Trident, a Maserati specialist in Vendée in 2017; along with valid technical inspections from 2010, 2012, and 2017; and a valid French carte grise.

An expert appraisal from 2016 confirms the vehicle's outstanding condition, noting its well-preserved paintwork, perfectly aligned bumpers, and original dashboard. Additionally, a full repaint and major service were completed at the Ateliers des Légendes for €17, 000, ensuring that this Ghibli SS is not only a stunning example but also a thoroughly prepared and delightful driving experience. Recently, the car underwent a revision of the retractable headlights, a battery replacement, and passed a French contrôle technique (technical inspection) in September 2024 in preparation for sale.
