Description
This is a genuine 1 owner from new MK1 2 Door GT Cortina .
Originally a UK supplied, cancelled export order model 2 Door GT , built in 1966 and finished in Lagoon Blue .
The export model had chrome window surrounds and chrome side trims, which are still with the car, and were removed when the colour was changed to the Alan Mann racing livery after a sympathetic body restoration in 2004.
The car was registered new in the UK in 1967 on an F Reg. , as it lay unsold in storage, as the export market had moved on and wanted the new MK2 Cortina. It must be one of the very last MK 1's to be registered .
The owner fastidiously maintained the car throughout and it drives really well, and sadly only parted with it due to ill health. I have a picture of the owner standing next to his pride and joy in the early '70's ( You can tell the period by the long hair, sideburns and tanktop), and he was photgraphed with the car with 3 generations of his family , when I collected it .
Needless to say, it runs and drives very well and offers a spirited experience , which happily keeps up with modern traffic .
I have the original steel wheels in the boot , in need of a refurb and new tyres, with a few other spares that the owner had collected , plus the rear bumper and irons.
The car comes with a choice of repro 5 1/ 2J Lotus steels , or gold minilites.
I doubt if there is ever an opportunity like this again . Where will you find another ? .
Happy to arrange delivery and will take an interesting part exchange .
