Interesting version of Pallas, very well preserved.
The 1968 version of the DS 19 Pallas is among the most sought after, and not only for its more luxurious finish. It was the last year in which the car retained its original style with standard headlights, while benefiting at the same time from important technical advances. It was equipped with the new five-bearing DY engine offering 90 hp, a modified bogie and an LHM hydraulic system.
Our example left the factory in early 1968, in the blanc carrare reserved for the Pallas versions, with a green fabric interior. The car has always been well cared for and dry parked and is in its original condition having simply benefited from a new paint job in 2012. The colour is now in excellent condition and is very shiny, however there are small traces of surface rust on the lower part of the door near the lower Pallas trim due to the holes for fixing the strips themselves, whilst the boot and side sills are rust free and in excellent condition.
The car has benefited from careful maintenance in recent years, when it was put on the road in 2012 the most demanding work was carried out such as replacing the clutch and a complete overhaul of the LHM system and a complete overhaul of the cooling system (new water pump and overhaul of the radiator). The car has recently undergone a general overhaul of the fuel and ignition system and, as is standard practice, the shock absorber accumulators have been replaced and new tyres have been fitted.
The car currently requires no particular work and is immediately drivable.
The interior is in incredibly original condition, and it was with undisguised pleasure that we climbed inside to check that everything was in good working order. Retaining its original engine, as confirmed by the Citroën Conservatory, this DS, being an interesting Pallas version of the right year, also boasts an exceptional history and is presented in surprisingly good condition of preservation, with the safety and reliability of a less complicated version and overhaul of the mechanical parts.
