Description
Finished in Ford True Blue Metallic with a black ‘glass’ power hood, Ford White interior and matching tonneau cover its running the original 302 5. 0 V8 engine, automatic gearbox, power steering and front power disc brakes. With the Magnaflow exhaust system, Ram Air Hood, Mach 1 splitter & Magnum wheels; it has a tremendous road presence and soundtrack!
The Marti report (please see photo’s) confirms that it left the Dearborn plant in March 1972 and was registered in the UK in June 1972; it must have been quite a sight on our roads back then!
Originally built and supplied in red with a white interior, black power hood, power steering, power front disc brakes, central interior consol and a Decor Group pack including the Mach 1 grille and deluxe door linings; pleasingly, other than the colour change, its retained all of its original specification.
In 2008 it was sent to Simon Merisson of Merissons Classics and was subject to a comprehensive recommission & restoration, all documented in the file; please see photos.
The next owner carried out further works between 2014 and 2017 including:
* Fitted widened Magnum Wheels.
* Upgraded cam covers to Scott Drake 302 “powered by Ford” valve covers with breathable chrome “push on” oil cap to right side & PCV valve to the left.
* New heater core fitted.
* New front suspension fitted by American Auto Services in Hayes.
* New flex coupling to steering column.
* New front brake discs, pads, brake lines & wheel bearings.
* Carb rebuild.
* New Petronix 1281 Solid-State Ignition system fitted to the distributor to improve acceleration.
* New master cylinder fitted.
* New alternator with correct wiring, regulator box & belt.
The most recent owner maintained the car themselves and crucially kept it in regular, dry use.
In July 2024 it arrived with us and was inspected by a specialist engineer with the following works carried out; plugs replaced and correctly gapped, installed distributor cap/ rotar arm, neatened ignition wiring and the carb and engine timing have been dialled in.
In addition both back boxes/ mufflers have been replaced with stainless steel units.
