Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint RHD
Rare & beautiful, these 2600's were top of the line cars for Alfa in the 1960's. The deign of the body was penned by Giugiaro & the coachwork done by Bertone. The 2584cc in-line six-cylinder twin-cam engine is an Italian masterpiece being extremely powerful, revving freely & making all the right noises.
A total of 6, 999 2600 Sprints were manufactured between 1962 and 1966, only 596 of which were manufactured with right hand drive steering: 219 in 1964, 362 in 1965, and 15 in 1966.
This Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint RHD was sold new in the UK with registration number “CGY 849B”, we have the original registration number plates and UK logbook. It was first registered on 18. 12. 1964
In 1988 it was imported to Finland and was not in the best of condition, upon arrival in Finland it was put straight into storage. It sat in storage until 2008, when it was finally removed to be fixed and put back on the road.
Since being in Finland for the last 36 years it has been with the same owner, one owner car here in Finland.
In 2013 it was inspected and road registered here in Finland, over the years there was still some modifications and renewal of parts. The below will give you a good idea of the works carried out.
Shell:
All rust damage repaired and welded.
Repainted in its original colour, or as close to the original shade as possible.
Interior:
Leather interior is still in its original condition, just been cleaned and had a warmed leather care coat applied.
Roof lining is also in very good original condition.
The floor mat looks to be aftermarket, not sure.
Engine:
• New piston rings
• Seals renewed
• Head is flat machined (skimmed)
• New head gasket
• Water pump repaired with repair kit (2600-018 WATER PUMP REPAIR KIT 2600)
• The exhaust vents have been renewed
Electrics:
• Pointless ignition fitted
• New spindle, Bosch "blue" 0 the details below
• Starter motor cleaned and checked
• Heating FAN device opened, cleaned and lubricated
Cooling and Heating system:
• All hoses renewed
• New heater valve. Not with the original, but: Heater Valve C20820, for Daimler Dart, Jaguar E Type & MAt2, went right into place, tightening and hose clamps.
Only the control of the temperature control flap had to be scrapped.
In addition, the lever of the lower air control flap was removed, as unnecessary.
Power transfer:
• Drive shaft seal renewed
• Clutch master cylinder rubbers renewed
• Gearbox shaft seals renewed
• Prop shaft support bearing renewed
Brakes:
• All cylinder rubbers, and pistons renewed
• The main arms have been serviced with a notching kit
• All brake hoses and pipes renewed
• Brake booster serviced with a repair kit
• Brake discs machined straight
• All brake pads renewed
June 2022 renewed master cylinder, the old one was dripping brake fluid
Suspension:
• All new Spax adjustable shock absorbers
• All rubber bushings on the rear axle have been renewed
• Front wheel covers renewed
• New rear springs, OKP
• New rear wheel bearings replaced. bearings 208KRR2
• Axle bearings renewed. Stefat 35x5 8x10
Steering:
• Steering gear repaired
• Renewed taper roller bearings, shaft seals, gear worm wheel and a roller wheel with a new axle and nail plate
• helical wheel front bearing
Fuel system:
• Fuel tank cleaned and checked
• Fuel pump cleaned
• Carburettors completely disassembled, cleaned.
• Fuel pipes/ hoses from the tank to the carburettor have been renewed.
General summary:
This is a very rare right hand drive Alfa, try finding another one for sale at the moment.
It is road inspected (MOT/ TUV) and is fully roadworthy, it drives well, and the engine sounds great.
If you are looking for a show car, then this one is not for you. As you can see in the photos it looks very presentable, up close though there are quite a few signs of previous repairs.
Mechanically it is very good, and the interior is also in nice original condition.
