Description
The Autobianchi A112, the Mini of Italy. Like its British competitor, the compact and practical car was designed for everyday practicality with a good price/ performance ratio. From 1977, the small car was offered on foreign markets as a Lancia. This was pure marketing, as the parent company Fiat thought it would complete the Lancia fleet. And what would a mass-produced vehicle be without a sports version from the in-house racing department? In parallel, tuned 'Abarth' versions with more power and a sporty look were also built. The extremely light and manoeuvrable Abarth quickly became popular in motorsport, especially in hill climbs, rallies and slaloms. The short wheelbase, the direct steering and the lively four-cylinder engine turned the 112 into a nervous cannonball. This A112 was built as an original Abarth 70 HP of the seventh series. It is a Swiss first delivery. The car was extensively customised by the previous owner. What immediately catches the eye is that all the plastic parts on the bodywork and the bumpers have been removed. The wheel arch extensions and front and rear skirts were carefully fabricated from sheet metal as part of the bodywork. The car was lowered with a new OSRAV sports suspension including adjustable dampers. The interior with vintage bucket seats is almost as good as new. To match the red paintwork, the car has new Cromodora-style aluminium wheels with new tyres. The driving behaviour is no less spectacular than the looks. Endless grip and the agility of a go-kart. Not for originality fetishists, but for real drivers. A one-off for which no expense or effort has been spared * Trade-in possible*
