Matching Michelin tyres

It is not often you come across one of these, a Saab 99 GL from 1983. This car ticks a lot of boxes, it looks fantastic, it has had many thousands spent on it recently, is as rare as the proverbial hen’s teeth and it’s very cool. Over the last 3-4 years there has been well over £13, 000 spent on it, and probably more. The collection of invoices and receipts would suggest a lot more. Some of the highlights are an engine rebuild in 2020 that cost £4, 266, in 2022 it had a long list of things including new suspension, sump guard, new shocks, a new set of matching Michelin tyres, new headlining, electrical system overhaul, new wheel arches and the relevant paintwork. Again, there is a lot more but this little lot cost £6, 831. There is an invoice from JP Exhausts for a new system, which sounds amazing, and another invoice for all the wheels being refurbished.

The vendor purchased the car late last year and took it to renowned Liverpool Saab specialist, Sarbkar, for a full check over and service. The few jobs that needed attention were done - front brakes stripped, handbrake assembly reset and the rear lights resealed - and there is a full report on the file. The speedometer wasn’t working and the vendor has included a replacement but chose not to replace it at this stage as the odometer is still recording the miles without issue. Having had his fun with the car over the summer, the vendor considers it time to move on to something else.

The car is finished in a darker shade of red with a beige velour interior, the bodywork is excellent bearing in mind it has had all the arches replaced and the paintwork has been done, the interior is in very good condition, there is a little bit of wear on the driver’s seat but only a little (to be expected to be fair to it) and the headlining is new. It is finished off with a stripe in silver that follows the shape of the body. it also has some race stickers and numbers, which should be very easy to remove if you wished, but we think it looks great as it is and gives the car a race retro look that really suits it. All this is finished off with some very nice period parts such as a boot spoiler, spotlights, head lamp washers and a very rare and refurbished set of Super Incas alloy wheels finished in gold, making this a very attractive package.

The history file is lovely, with receipts and invoices going back many years even to the original service card from Saab, along with its book pack and manuals, as well as all the aforementioned invoices for the recent recommissioning that ran into many thousands of pounds.

All in all, this is an amazing and is tax and MOT exempt. This is a very cool car which should give you many admiring looks and a maybe a show win or two. What’s not to like?
