We’re pleased to present this one of a kind Volkswagen Beetle with a Subaru 2. 2L engine conversion, which belongs to one of our loyal customers.
Starting with the mechanical components, this Beetle underwent an engine conversion with a fully reconditioned Subaru EJ22 engine by TSR Engine Conversions. The conversion was completed in June 2012, and the vehicle has driven 7, 300 miles since then. In addition to the engine conversion, this Beetle features a rear-mounted oil cooler, K&N induction kit, a custom stainless steel exhaust system, SPAX damping adjustable shocks, and a front and rear brake disc and caliper conversion, with the front calipers being a tasteful Wilwood 4-piston upgrade.
The exterior has undergone a complete respray in Porsche Atlas Grey, with color-coded headlight trims and wing mirrors, finished with a satin black roof decal. Up front, it features a Kamie style colour coded front lip, and a set of Cubie spotlights, with a single fog light mounted at the rear. Lastly, it has opening rear quarter windows and sits proudly on a set of Revolution Classic 5-spoke wheels with Pirelli P6 tyres.
Moving inside, the interior has undergone a comprehensive retrim by Bernard Newbury Auto Interiors. The front sport seats feature oatmeal-coloured fabric with black leather bolsters and headrests, with the rear bench and door cards to match. Additionally, it features a Momo sports steering wheel, EMPI quickshifter, dash-mounted tachometer and water temperature gauges, and a Sony Xplod CD head unit and speaker system.
The sale of this vehicle comes with an extensive history of servicing and maintenance documentation dating back to 1986, covering all 41, 300 miles the Beetle has driven. At Absolute VW, we have proudly been involved in the maintenance of this Beetle since 2021, and most recently, an oil change has been completed along with the application of Lanoguard underside protection to the chassis.
Drawing your attention to the condition of the Beetle. Overall, the bodywork is good, with the exception of some surface corrosion visible on all lower sections of the wheel arches and below the front headlights. The rear valance shows minor signs of damage, and there is some corrosion on the floor pan. Despite this, it presents a pass on a MOT test valid till May 2025.
