Engine No. TBA.
Red with beige leather interior.
The ZA Magnette was designed by Gerald Palmer for BMC and was used for both the Magnette and the Wolseley 4/ 44. The MG used the 1498cc BMC “B” series engine which continued in production albeit in larger capacity in later MG’s through to the last of the MGB’s in 1980. Palmers’ design included Rack and Pinion steering, and the first MG saloon to have a monocoque chassis. Considered in its day by the motoring press to be an excellent sports saloon and is still popular with MG enthusiasts.
Our vendor’s car was purchased some years ago by his deceased father who started a full restoration. Sadly, due to ill health this work stopped some 3 years ago. Included in the sale are several additional spare parts including engines, doors, wheels, radiators. New sill panels have been added to the near side, some final welding is still required. The offside has not received attention. We are told that all parts that have been dismantled are available along with the spares.
Viewing will be available at the vendors’ premises near Newmarket by appointment through the auctioneers.
