Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2024 - Cars on Saturday the 9th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. An entirely new Aston Martin for the 21st Century, the V12-engined Vanquish Coupé debuted at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2001. Aston Martin's first power unit of its type, the 5. 9-litre, 48-valve, V12 engine (first seen in the DB7 V12 Vantage) developed 460bhp at 6, 800rpm, with 400lb/ ft of torque available at 5, 500 revs. The 6-speed gearbox was controlled by F1-style paddles and could be operated in either of two modes: fully manual or computer-controlled automatic, with a Sport setting available on both. The inventory of standard equipment included almost everything the discerning connoisseur could wish for, while the performance - 190mph and 0-60mph in 4. 5 seconds – placed the Vanquish firmly in the supercar class. Dominated by an imposing aluminium centre console, the interior featured Connolly leather upholstery and Wilton carpeting, emphasising the Aston Martin heritage, for despite its advanced specification, the Vanquish was built like all other Astons before it - one at a time and by hand.
This superb example was supplied new by Grange Motors in 2002 and is exquisitely finished in Forest Green with matching green leather upholstery and was originally optioned from the factory with 2+2 seating, a fire extinguisher, heated front screen, upgraded wing mirrors and front stone guards.
Maintained by Aston Martin Works up until 2011, the car was acquired by our late vendor, a friend of Iconic Auctioneers owner, Nick Whale, in that year and he continued to have the car fastidiously maintained by Aston specialists, Bamford Rose, all the way up to his very sad passing in 2020. Since then, the Vanquish has been professionally stored with only occasional use by his widow and consequently still presents superbly. The Aston is accompanied by a comprehensive service and MOT history corroborating the indicated mileage of 26, 900 and the condition of the car remains exceptional, as does the value for money that it represents today.
NB: The Cherished Registration Number illustrated in our images, PES 51, does not form part of the sale but is available in our automobilia sale - lot 323.
