This matching numbers Trident shows as a 1973 model but not being registered until 1975. The frame number and right foot gearchange does tally with the 1973 manufacture date. It has been modified for fast road/ competition use and features a competition seat, twin front discs with AP calipers and single rear disc brakes. The fuel tank and rear fairing are presented in polished aluminium. The low handlebars suggest a racing front fairing has been fitted in the past. The bike has not been started, there is a note stating there is no oil and the battery is missing. The engine does turn on the kick start. There are various signs of long term storage so a thorough check-through will be needed before any attempt to start. The included paperwork contains a letter from the Triumph club stating that the bike features a 5speed gearbox.
The T150 triple may not have sold in the numbers needed for Triumph in period but success on the race track certainly kept the brand at the forefront of hearts and minds in the period.
