Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this rare UK-supplied BMW M3 Sport Evolution 2. 5. Just 51 UK examples of the powerful Sport Evoloution 2. 5 (or EVO 3) were sold new in the UK. Developed directly from motorsport, the BMW M3 was the first car of its type. Hexagon BMW sold many of these cars brand new at our London dealership.
With its numerous championship victories in touring car racing, the M3 quickly became one of the most iconic vehicles in the BMW M line-up. The legend of the iconic M3 badge was born. The idea behind the M3 was to make a racing car available as a road car. The M3 became a roaring success, on road and on track. The Group A regulations required that at least 5000 road-legal copies of a racing car had to be sold within 12 months to enable racing homologation.
The BMW Racing braking system with ABS and ventilated discs, ensured that it stopped as well as it went, and the suspension and damping were designed with racing in mind. The Getrag 265 5-speed dog leg gearbox was straight from the track. Not much more than the roof and doors remained from the regular E30 road cars. The 4 cylinder engine was completely revised for the M3. Low weight, high torque and durability remained, but the displacement was enlarged and a four valve head was integrated. Ideas and technology honed in the legendary BMW M1 race car transformed the M3. The front and rear bumpers, side skirts, bootlid and spoiler were fashioned from lightweight composites.. The rear wing, and wider wheel arches completed the distinctive shape. Race versions of the M3 clinched victory in the World, European, and DTM titles amongst many other accolades.
It featured an upgraded 2, 467 cc engine that produced 235 hp at 7, 000 rpm and 240 Nm torque at 4, 750 rpm. The top speed was increased to 154 mph. Sport Evolution models have enlarged front bumper openings and an adjustable multi-position front splitterand rear wing. Brake cooling ducts were installed in place of the front foglights.
Delivered new by Cooper Park Lane BMW in September 1990, our M3 boasts a very impressive service history file, and is complete with the BMW book pack, service book, historic MOT’s, service invoices and spare keys. This is the epitome of the modern BMW sports classic. A 12-month written warranty is also included. The M3 is available to view now at our London showroom.
