Description
This beautiful MKI Sprite was manufactured on the 20th January 1960, finished in Iris Blue with Blue trim, Black hood and the car has been completely rebuilt to how it looked the day it left the factory. 499 LKX is a UK Home Market example that was purchased back in 2020 in need of a complete, full bare shell rebuild that commenced in 2021.
The last owner invested over £40, 000 in this project and from the photos in the history file we can see the car had been off the road for many years and required major bodywork. The ‘Frogeye' was then stripped to the bare shell, taken back to bare metal and completely rebuilt ahead of being painted inside, outside and underneath in Iris Blue.
Once the body restoration was completed the Sprite MKI was fitted up with new brightwork, rubbers, trims, interior, weather gear and lighting. The engine was rebuilt by Yorkshire Engines, an overhauled gearbox supplied by Heathrow Transmissions and thousands of pounds worth of new parts supplied for the braking, steering, suspension, electrical, fuel and cooling systems.
499 LKX has arrived with us running in and has been spanner checked and signed off by our workshop. The car is in outstanding mechanical condition with all renewed or replaced ancillaries and parts. The underside of the car is magnificent with a beautiful painted, detailed finish and the bodywork, paintwork, interior and engine bay are all of a very high standard. We have carried out several miles of road testing and can confirm the cars drives superbly as expected fresh from rebuild.
