The Porsche 997, produced from 2004 to 2012, is the sixth generation of the iconic Porsche 911 and a significant model in the evolution of the brand. It followed the 996 and marked a return to some of the classic styling cues that enthusiasts had missed, such as the round headlights, reminiscent of earlier 911 models. The 997 was offered in a wide range of variants, including the Carrera, Turbo, and GT3, each with distinct performance capabilities. Throughout its production run, the 997 saw two main phases: the original 997. 1 and the facelifted 997. 2, introduced in 2008. The 997 is celebrated for its balance of traditional Porsche design with modern performance and comfort, making it one of the most beloved and versatile 911s in the model's storied history.
We are delighted to offer this 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S in Meteor Grey with black leather interior. First registered in January 2007, it was supplied by Porsche Centre Edinburgh. The option codes sticker in the book pack confirms it was tastefully optioned with the much sought after Sports Exhaust, 19” forged Turbo alloy wheels, All Leather Lining and BOSE sound system with 6 CD changer. The service book contains 9 stamps, all from main dealers or Porsche specialists, the most recent being April 2024 at 70, 850 miles.
Outside the car presents beautifully, the 19” Turbo alloys with their diamond cut faces presenting a striking contrast with the grey metallic paint. The car has benefitted from PPF (paint protection film) in a number of areas and this has clearly done its job, yet doesn’t look obvious or tired like so many older applications. The wheels themselves are in lovely condition with no obvious damage and we wonder whether they have been recently refurbished. They are shod with a high quality set of matching Pirelli P Zeroes, as you would hope to see on any high performance car. The headlamp lenses are clear with no misting and the red calipers stand out nicely behind the alloys. Inside, the interior is all very smart and the leather across the door tops and dash lend it a very sophisticated ambience. There is no significant wear to the centre console buttons, something that can be a weak point on the 997. 1, and the seats are free from any obvious rips or tears in the leather. There are no unsightly modifications and it’s pleasing to see that the BOSE stereo system has been retained.
The car comes with V5C, current and some past MOTs and a full and comprehensive book pack in its leather wallet.
Many would argue that the 997 Carrera is peak water-cooled 911 and with good reason. It combines classic 911 looks with a more analogue driving experience than the later cars - naturally aspirated, hydraulic steering and minimal technology nannying you. This Carrera 2S is very much the driver’s choice being lighter than the 4WD cars, fitted with a lovely manual gearchange, benefitting from the more powerful 350bhp 3. 8 engine and sensibly optioned with the fabulous sounding, switchable sports exhaust - it ticks all the boxes. It’s hard to believe that these modern classics will get any cheaper and now may be the perfect time to swoop.
