This P4 was probably the subject of an older restoration, with invoices in the file indicating that work was carried out in the 1990s. It has clearly been much loved; amongst others, the carpets were renewed in 2016 and new rear brake shoes and cylinders fitted. In the current ownership and within the last year or so, new engine mounts have been fitted, plus front windscreen seals, a new rear shock absorber, a stainless steel exhaust system, new petrol pipe, a new head gasket set and a new wiper motor. An electronic ignition conversion has been carried out as well as a brake overhaul and a halogen headlamp conversion. Its retired engineer owner has continuously tinkered with the mechanics to keep them up together, and it appears that the same has happened in previous ownerships.
The body is in tidy, sound condition; it is not a show car but has been maintained to use on a daily basis - it even has a modern touch-screen control panel! The chassis and underside are believed to be in good, solid condition and have been rustproofed. The wood dashboard and door cappings and trims are very smart but the upholstery could be improved, particularly the rear seat off-side. The driver’s seat would probably improve with hide food. Mechanically, we understand there are no known issues and the motor car performs very well, including the overdrive transmission.
The history file contains invoices from the current and previous ownerships, MOT test certificates dating to 1987, correspondence from the 1980s onwards, sundry documentation, a workshop manual and the V5C registration certificate.
