Description
If my memory serves me correctly, I last drove one of these back in 1991, it had come in part exchange at Jack Barclay, and in those days we were allowed to 'drive' a car over the weekend, & I remember vividly being somewhat amazed by the wonderful build quality, performance and its air of real sophistication.... and those 'oh' clever seat belt 'presenters'; a real class act.... 32 years later, nothing has changed, okay ergonomics have moved on but it's clear to me that modern MB build quality is not a patch on their cars from 1980/ 90's !
Mercedes-Benz have always been expensively engineered and since the 1960's, all their two door cars have always been sleeker, lower and built without B pillars with fully retractable windows, which certainly set them apart from the opposition.
This design approach has ensured that an MB Coupe has always been an expensive car to buy, thus appealing to the likes likes of Aryton Senna, Nigel Mansell & Martin Brundle, all of whom chose a SEC in period!
This car was supplied new via London main dealer Normans and it arrived in perhaps the best colour combination of Nautic Blue and cream leather. Beautifully optioned with electrical memory drivers seat with orthopaedic adjustment for both sides and tilt/ sliding sunroof plus a host more extras, all of which work perfectly today.
Latterly supplied by the SL Shop in 2011 to a gentleman who lived abroad. Rarely used but stored correctly by one of the industry's best, its superb condition has never diminished. Ownership passed to this same company who deemed the perfect car to collect and ferry around their clients passing more recently to Ranmore.
Serviced by their favoured specialist on the last 5 occasions, we have in addition just gone through the car again, so all sorted for the next 12 months.
A fabulous car that will undoubtedly out last many cars of the modern era, that drives beautifully and creates a real sense of occasion each and every time one sits been behind the wheel.
It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you might have. However, to really appreciate this Mercedes-Benz it needs to be seen “in the flesh”, so do please call me directly on the details below to arrange a viewing at our new Redhill showroom.
