Reviving a famous model name from Aston Martin's past, the DBS was based on the DB9 and replaced the outgoing Vanquish S in 2008 as the company's top-of-the-range supercar. Before then, the world got a mouth-watering preview when a DBS appeared in Casino Royale (2006), Daniel Craig's debut in the role of James Bond. The DBS also appeared in the opening sequence of Quantum of Solace, the follow up film released in 2008.
In terms of its styling the DBS was clearly a development of the DB9 but with the additions of a carbon-fibre front splitter and carbon-fibre rear diffuser among others. State-of-the-art manufacturing techniques were employed in making the aluminium/ composite body. Powering the DBS was a development of the 6. 0-litre, 48-valve, V12 engine found in other Aston Martin models, producing 510bhp initially, an output sufficient for a top speed of 190mph (305km/ h) in manual transmission form, with 60mph (96km/ h) arriving in a neck-snapping 4. 3 seconds. The engine was mounted as far back as possible in the chassis, while the transmission/ final drive was combined in a rear transaxle, resulting in a perfect 50/ 50 front/ rear weight distribution, with commensurate benefits to handling, roadholding and controllability. Transmission options were a six-speed manual or six-speed 'Touchtronic 2' paddle-shift semi-automatic. Inside the DBS one finds the typically elegant, luxurious and supremely comfortable hand-crafted interior traditionally associated with Aston Martin.
This particular DBS was delivered new to New Zealand and brought to the UK by our vendor (its second owner) in 2023. Finished in stunning Onyx Black with matching leather/ Alcantara interior, the DBS had covered 25, 750 kilometres from new (and never on the UK's gritted roads) and is described by the vendor as in immaculate condition in every respect. Ready to delight the fortunate next owner, this most beautiful of modern Aston Martins comes complete with its original handbook, CTEK charger, Aston Martin indoor cover, and wheel storage ramps. A Cat 5 GPS tracker has been fitted and the car also comes with a V5C Registration Certificate and current MoT.
