Described by Cars Illustrated as "probably one of the most delightful small sports cars which will ever be produced," the Giulia Spider is certainly one of the most attractive Alfa Romeos of its day and remains highly regarded now.
Delivered new in the USA, this Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider had already been fully restored when it was acquired by the immediately preceding owner from Bardini Automobiles in Paris in 1998. Subsequently the Alfa was kept in a dry garage and driven only some 1, 000 kilometres each year, and never in the rain. Our vendor purchased the Giulia at Bonhams' Paris Sale in February 2019 (Lot 278), at which time we had been advised that it was in excellent condition having been always very well maintained by the same mechanics. Recent works had include fitting a new exhaust, new ignition system, and a front disc brakes conversion.
Since being brought to the UK the car has continued to be used sparingly; it has now been upgraded with a Bluetooth radio/ phone system and comes complete with hood, tonneau, and a vehicle cover. Beautiful, usable, and fantastic fun to drive, this delightful Giulia Spider is offered with a V5C document and a file of invoices relating to its restoration in 1998.
