Here we have a great opportunity to acquire a nice example of a very rare UK supplied RHD Porsche 911 from 1985 with Targa body and finished in Grand Prix white with the Porsche chequered trim interior - a very fetching colour combination! The Porsche was supplied new to its first owner, a Mr Penrice from Tyne and Wear, by a Porsche dealer called Gordon Ramsay Ltd (not that one!) in Newcastle upon Tyne on 1/ 8/ 1985. In fact, the original service book has a good number of stamps from the same dealer detailing some of its early life and service history. It is always nice when you come across a car that is 39 years old and it still has its original books and manuals, and even in this case, its spare keys.
The history is quite a lot, and includes a host of invoices showing works and servicing carried out over the years both from Porsche dealers and independent specialists, as well as a large collection of older MOTs that sit very nicely with the current one valid until April 2025. There are also details of the Porsche being fitted with a tracker and an alarm system back in the day.
A great deal of the invoices provide details of the aforementioned restoration and are accompanied by a large collection of photos showing the work carried out, and a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB Managing Director. This confirms the 911 left the factory on 26/ 6/ 1985, was registered on 1/ 8/ 1985 and finished in Grand Prix white with a black hood, as it still is today, but with burgundy leather - it now has the Linen half cloth and vinyl trim, which is lovely. The rest of the factory specification included leather steering wheel, recoil bumpers, electric heated passenger door mirror, forged alloy wheels (it is now on Fuchs with a matching set of Bridgestone tyres), rear wiper, left electronic seat, spoilers, sport shock absorbers, and door / rear panel and backwall section in cloth. Some of these have been changed due to the restoration, as often happens. The Porsche is finished off currently with rear seatbelts and a Blaupunkt Bremen music system, both very fitting.
This is one of those cars that could be deemed to be a good future investment, as well as one that you could enjoy on a daily basis and be proud to own.
