Richards of England is thrilled to introduce this beautifully preserved Aston Martin DB5 for full restoration or recommissioning opportunity.

The DB5 was briefly used by Brookland Motors, Bond Street London as a demonstrator car in 1964 before being purchased by its first owner Professor Thoneman Head of Physics at Swansea University.

In 1978 the DB5 was purchased by Mr J. B Watton a London solicitor who kept the DB5 until 1980. The original registration plate was 88 GYL, however, this plate was retained by Mr J. B Watton when it was sold in 1980.

Mr Tunnicliffe purchased the DB5 in 1980 and kept the car for 40 years, in its original condition, with no major restoration. During his ownership, the works completed on the DB5 included a stainless steel exhaust system and a lead-free conversion by Aston Engineering of Derby.

The DB5 attended numerous local club race events during Mr Tunnicliffe's membership of the Aston Martin Owners Club.

In 2020 Richards of England handled the private sale of the DB5 following the passing of Mr Tunnicliffe to Mr J Downes. Mr Downes has driven the DB5 sparingly over the last four years and has kept up general maintenance and servicing by Richards of England.

The DB5 is now currently for sale with Richards of England for the first time publicly since 1978 and is ready for further enjoyment or an opportunity to commission a full restoration at ROE.

The DB5 appears only to have been painted once with its original "Deep Carriage Green" colour still visible in places, including the number plate housing. The original interior remains in good condition despite being 60 years old, which appears to be a true reflection given the mileage of 43, 280.
