Description
History:
Ferrari, the most renowned sports car manufacturer in the world, developed the worthy successor to the now highly prized 246 Dino GT/ GTS in collaboration with Sergio Pininfarina. In 1974, the Dino 308 GT designed by Bertone was launched, which, despite the new and powerful V8 engine, was not really recognised as a true Dino successor.
In 1975, the successful 308 GTB was introduced, which was built for around 10 years and, produced by Scaglietti, was also a great success outside Europe.
This example was delivered on 22 June 1979 by the well-known Ferrari specialist Becker from Düsseldorf. The 308 remained with the buyer until 1987 and was sold and imported to Switzerland in August.
Over the past 37 years, the 308 has undergone an extensive technical overhaul and excellent care. From 2010 to 2013, many documents and invoices document the extensive work commissioned by the current owner. The 308 presents itself in an exceptionally well-maintained condition, is freshly veteran-inspected and has undergone a major inspection with a fresh timing belt and tensioner pulley.
Bodywork and paintwork:
The paintwork is largely original and has only been repainted in a few places. The overall substance is flawless and undamaged. No welding or repairs to the substance are visible. The doors open and close perfectly, hinges and fittings are of new car quality.
Interior:
The interior has been completely restored and the seats covered with new leather. The car's mileage of 100, 000 kilometres to date is not visible on the outside or inside.
Engine and mechanics:
The mechanics were extensively overhauled between 2010 and 2013. All receipts from the specialist workshops that have serviced this GTB are available. Only 11, 000 kilometres have been driven since the technical overhaul.
Chassis:
The chassis was also completely overhauled during the restoration work and all bearings were replaced. In addition to the coveted "Fagix" alloy wheels of the time, the original wheels are still present.
Driving experience:
The 308 GTB, especially the powerful carburettor version, is a sports car that still gives you goose bumps today. From the rapid acceleration to the powerful brakes, the 308 GTB offers amazingly good handling and beguiles with its breathtaking acoustics.
Recommendation:
The Ferrari 308 is predicted to have a great future as a collector's car. Its development is going in a similar direction to that of the Dino series of the 245 GT and 246 GTS. A well-documented and well-maintained example, which also has the original service booklet, is a guarantee for a solid increase in value. Above all, however, it is simply a pleasure to drive this genuine hot hatchback.
