1960 Jaguar XK150 FHC
Manufactured on the 26th of August 1960 and supplied via Mist’s Garage of Handsworth, Birmingham. To F & W Phillips Ltd. In Pearl Grey with Red leather. The Mist’s Garage plaque is still affixed the the glovebox door. The XK150 was the last of the separate chassis XK’s before the new E-Type arrived in 1961. The XK150 was now available with the 3. 8 litre XK engine. equipped with 4 wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Making a very capable high speed touring car in the traditional GT fashion.
Sold by the London Sportscar Centre in 1967 to Mr P. J. Reading for 600. 00 Pounds. Shipped to Sydney in 1969 on the SS Encounter Bay. The details and known history is recorded in the excellent Jaguar XK in Australia book, of 1985. in the 1980’s the car had body restoration, new interior trim and a mechanical overhaul.
The history file dating back to 1967 contains many invoices from such specialists as, Antique Auto Restorations, Terry Hutton Jaguar Restorations, R & N Nixon, Cremorne Prestige, Concours Sports Car Restoration and Graeme Lord, to name but a few.
During the cars life it was upgraded to full three carburettor, S, specification. In 2006 at 97510 miles the engine was upgraded by Graeme Lord to 4. 2 litre with larger S3 inlet valves, 8. 7/ 5 to 1 compression, top-hat liners and ARP rod bolts. More recently new triple laced 16” chrome wire wheels, Gaz adjustable dampers, anti-tramp rods, electronic ignition, Dynogen alternator, stainless steel exhaust system and a hi-torque starter motor have been fitted. The brakes and instruments has also been overhauled.
The car comes with a copy of the Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
This is a really fine XK150 offered at a realistic price.
