Here at ACC we just love a classic BMW and with its strong, Paul Bracq styling reflecting its lineage and progression from the mighty E9 Coupe, the E24 and especially in 635 CSI Highline specification is a classic that in our opinion that has really stood the test of time.
Finished in Cirus Blue metallic this 1988 example presents to a very high standard indeed, partly to being owned within the same family for the last 29 years, the car having 4 previous keeper (2 within the same family). A tour of this Highline shows paintwork in great overall condition, there's the odd mark, it's our critical eye and to be expected from a 36 year old classic, but with strong panels and depth of shine to the Cirus Blue metallic, this beauty looks great. Rubbers, glass, lens', 'Highline' arch spats, spoilers etc all remain in excellent condition and the same extends further when opening the doors, boot lid or tilting the bonnet forward. The original BBS Stye 5 TRX alloys have been recently refurbished and come shod with TRX tyres showing 6mm tread all round, this E24 stands proudly indeed.
The black leather interior remains in great overall condition and in Highline spec, the leather extends throughout; door cards, dash fascia & pod, A & C pillars, roof lining and even down to the stitched hand-finished sun-visors. With the optional Sports seats, showing slight patina, electrically operated and fully adjustable, including head-rests and thigh support adjustment, with the drivers seat having the 'memory pack' there's no way that either the driver or front seat passenger can't find the perfect seating position in this great GT. Highly coveted back in the late 80's the E24 was a hugely expensive car at the time.
Out on the open road the BMW 635 CSI is naturally a delight to drive too, though sadly without having de-restricted Autobahns we couldn't fully validate it's Grand Tourer credentials. What can be said however is that this E24 feels as just right. The 3. 5 litre straight six starts easily and out on the open road, she drives faultlessly, strong brakes, tight steering, a great gearbox (various modes tested) and with 220bhp on tap there's plenty of ompf! The history file for the car is supported within the dealer book pack, the Service booklet indicating 13 BMW services following the usual BMW schedule of Oil Service, Inspection I, Oil Service, Inspection II and so on. Its worth noting that in 1992 the supplying dealer, BMW Hampshire Cars, replaced the speedo at 30473 miles. With the car now showing 52k miles this offers an overall mileage of 82k miles and ahead of going to her new owner this glorious classic will pass to our trusted engineer for a bumper-bumper 'health check' attending to any pre-MOT works, she'll be serviced and naturally come with a new 12 month MOT too!
Finished in her Cirus Blue metallic, this BMW 635 CSI Highline stands with real presence, a wonderful example, with low ownership, good history and now available and ready for her new custodian to enjoy and cherish her for years to come, does BMW styling come any more dramatic..... you decide!
