Description
A very nicely restored example of one of the prettiest 1930's sports cars and in the best colour combination!
The car is running and driving well, it is great fun and turns heads wherever you go.
Acquired by the current owner as a stalled restoration project which as the history file shows, had a lot work done in the early 2000's by Colin Groom restorations in Newton Abbott totaling over £12, 000. This included stripping the car down, sandblasting the chassis which was then built up again, building up the body using an new ash frame acquired in 1975(!), repairing all the body panels etc.
They also refurbished the mechanics of the car including a full engine rebuild (there is a separate invoice for £2000 for that). The invoices for all this are on file, work then seems to have stalled in 2007.
The current owner acquired the car in 2010 as an unfinished project, he set about finishing the car, repainting, full retrim in leather by a local coach trimmer including the hood and full tonneau
cover, new cotton wiring loom, rebuilt instruments, etc, etc. He finished the car in 2018 and drove it to the local MOT station where it passed the test, then drove it home and moved on to the next project, when I collected it the odometer said 1 mile, I drove it back the garage, now it says 10!
As far as I can see all the instruments work as they should, including the rather nice octagonal 8 day clock.
There is a good history file with the car including an original factory instruction manual (very rare), some lovely phots of the car looking a bit down at heal in 1946, with a letter from the son of the people in the photo that confirms who they are and the date. There are also all the invoices of the work done over the years.
The car is still very smart and will be sold with a new mot ready to use and enjoy.
