Description
In 1955, the W188 model series received a significant update and was renamed the Mercedes-Benz 300 Sc. The enhancements included chrome-plated wheel rims and additional chrome trim, a single-joint swing axle at the rear, and, most notably, a sophisticated direct petrol injection system that boosted the power output by 25 hp. The designation "Einspritzmotor" (injection engine) was prominently displayed on the rear bumper. The new engine produced 175 hp (129 kW), allowing the car to reach a top speed of 180 km/ h. Between January 1956 and July 1957, only 98 Coupés, 49 Cabriolets A, and 53 Roadsters were built, making this one of the rarest Mercedes models ever produced. Remarkably, it was even more expensive than the iconic Gullwing when first introduced!
