Having owned and presented hundreds of different buses to the market over the years, this bus is one of the best we have ever seen without any doubt! The level of care and attention to detail with the restoration is unbelievable. This level of meticulous care is only found with true enthusiasts whose passion and love for this marque of vehicle drives them to spend the endless hours and money required to bring a vehicle to this level of standard.
This is a factory German built VW T2 bus supplied to the UK in Right Hand Drive format. It is also a Dormobile conversion featuring the full width side elevating pop top roof that can accommodate two children / small adults in the fold out bunk frames. The bus is also a walkthrough model meaning you can walk from the front to the rear camping area without the need to exit the vehicle. This aforementioned spec is by far the most desirable especially for the UK market as it ticks every box in terms of practicality and also provenance, important for potential future resale value.
This bus has been completely stripped of all components required and then taken back to bare metal so that the entire shell inside and out could be fastidiously prepared prior to it being painted in the beautiful pastel blue / white colour scheme that is very much commensurate with the era.
You do not normally see an underside prepared to this level. It is very rare that it is in the same condition on the underside as it is on top and indeed everywhere else. The bus has had new sills, jacking points, bottom of doors, wheel arches, windscreen surrounds and many other new areas of metal installed prior to paint, a lot of which can be seen in clear detail in the photos. The only way that you can truly assess all of what metalwork requires replacement during a restoration is to do it this way, the correct and thorough way.
Fully reconditioned 1500cc engine running new ancillaries where required and also retaining essential original parts including the oil bath air filter to ensure that the bus runs as an air-cooled VW should.
All other mechanics either reconditioned or replaced throughout the restoration. There has been a lot of thought and care during the restoration to ensure that the bus retains its original look and feel. Original steel wheels restored with new polished hub caps.
Original Dormobile roof fully restored including all new bunk canvases, rubbers, canopy and any other necessary components. New upholstery throughout trimmed by Bromsgrove Auto Trimmers who are one of the UKs leading experts in upholstering vehicles of this nature in particular.
The interior is an original 1970s interior that has been carefully restored as not to take away from some of the originality of the bus inside but also to include modern comforts such as a new fridge and a double gas burner / sink combo unit. The two-person seat is a rock n roll bed that pulls down to form a bed essentially giving this bus the potential to be a 4 berth. This can be increased with the addition of an awning also. Seatbelts front and rear. Spare wheel and original carrier. Roof rack at rear for additional storage. Flip down buddy seat, detachable table.
Comes freshly serviced and with 12 months MOT even though not required by law due to the age of the vehicle. Delivery nationwide / worldwide can be arranged.
