Description

OVERVIEW

• We are pleased to offer for sale this Japanese classic – a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Tommi Mäkinen. It’s in excellent condition and benefitting from a significant restorative maintenance programme carried out in 2015/ 16.

• Under the bonnet sits the turbocharged 2. 0-litre ‘4G63’ inline-four, producing around 276bhp and driving all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

• The odometer shows 27, 360 miles, however this being a Japanese import, the mileage is not warranted.

• This car was first registered on Japan in February 2000 and imported into the UK in December 2007. It’s had five owners in the UK.

• The last two owners have had the car in professional storage, and driven it very sparingly, having covered fewer than 1, 000 miles since the restoration.

• The appropriate E20 TME registration is included in the sale.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• First produced in 1999, the Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Mäkinen Edition commemorated the Finnish rally driver’s fourth consecutive WRC Drivers Championship win. The limited-production model features a number of factory upgrades including a redesigned bodykit, upgraded dampers with 10mm lower suspension, a helical front limited-slip differential, a faster-spooling titanium turbocharger, a front strut brace, and an upgraded exhaust system

• This example is finished in the model’s iconic hue of Passion Red with black, white & Silver Ralliart side stripes and Red & White decals, over a black synthetic suede and red cloth-trimmed interior, featuring Recaro front sports seats with embroidered white “T. Makinen Edition” lettering on the backrests.

• It rides on the correct set of 17-inch Enkei Ralliart multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss white, framing red Brembo calipers and shod in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

• The factory specification includes red Ralliart mudflaps, automatic climate control, a digital clock, electrically adjustable folding door mirrors, electric windows, and a black leather-trimmed gear knob and gaiter with contrasting red stitching.

• The car is accompanied by all the original Japanese service & owner’s manuals, all the security and stereo system documents, two sets of keys, an extensive record of the restoration work and documentation of its MOT test history.

CONDITION

• The Passion Red paintwork is in excellent condition as evidenced by the high-resolution photographs, Inside, the cabin is presented in excellent order.

• The owner is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults other than the air-conditioning is currently not working. There are no warning lights showing on the dashboard, and the car starts, runs and drives as it should.

• The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 29 May August 2024 at 27, 347 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Last serviced 29. 5. 24 at 27, 347 miles and previously 30. 5. 22 at 27, 323 miles.

• Previous to this, the most significant work was carried out December 2015 to April 2016 by main-dealer specialist BS Marston Limited at 26, 702 miles. This consisted of a full engine service, including all new belts and tensioners, new engine oil and filters, spark plugs, a new OE water pump, all hoses including intercooler hoses, coolant flush and new drivetrain fluids, as well as a replacement OE Tommi Muäkinen Edition-specification flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder, refurbished calipers with new Brembo brake discs, pads, new Michelin sport tyres, and new battery .

• At the same time all suspension components were removed, steering arms, exhaust system, cleaned and re-painted. The underbody was cleaned and treated under body with Wax oil treatment.

• Bodywork was fully detailed at a cost of over £2000. It was noted that the vehicle has never received any paint work and is standing in its original paint.

• Bills of recommissioning adding up to over £12, 500.

• Other maintenance in the UK includes new belts fitted in 2009

• The Japanese service history is available, showing regular maintenance 2000 - 2007

SUMMARY

This Mitsubishi Evo VI Tommi Mäkinen Edition is a highly desirable limited-production rally-derived Japanese classic offered in impressive, largely original condition.
