Description
This Jaguar XK140 was originally left-hand drive though it appears to have first been registered on a Coventry number plate (NRW 989) to a Mrs B G Marple. Mrs Marple had the car exported to France and the car spent most of its life in Europe. It is finished in its original colour scheme of British Racing Green with a Suede Green interior.
This car underwent a full nut and bolt restoration here at Twyford Moors and was completed in 2018. The car was restored for well-known XK enthusiast and XK Gazette contributor Tony Hall. Tony wrote a series of articles chronicling the restoration of the car for the XK Gazette giving the car a wonderfully documented history. These articles are included in the cars history file.
During the restoration, the car was converted from left to right-hand drive and extensively upgraded. This XK has been built to be driven with a focus on comfort and reliability. It would be ideally suited to those looking for a car to tour in. These upgrades include a five-speed gearbox, front disc brakes, uprated suspension, electric cooling fan, electronic ignition and electric power steering. Inside the car has been fitted with chrome buckled inertia seat belts, footwell lighting and a hidden radio.
It is unusual for Twyford Moors restorations like this to come to the market. As such this is a rare opportunity to own and XK which combines the stunning looks of a fully restored car with the practicality of an extensively upgraded touring XK. To drive this car is an utter delight. It is comfortable and will allow you to cover many miles with ease. It is also set up to allow for spirited driving, particularly with the power steering switched off, so would be great fun on a track day or a twisty B-road.
