Gravetti GE427 - Cobra 427 Replica.
Professionally built circa 1990/ 1991 utilising the suspension components from a 1972 Jaguar. Gravetti (aka CK Ltd) marketed a quality Cobra replica with a chassis of tubular steel, and GRP body.
Hallibrand Replica wheels, stainless steel sidepipes (supplied by Rawles Motorsport of Hants).
Oatmeal leather Cobra replica seats, with a fully carpeted and trimmed cockpit.
A large history file comes with the car, but as you'll read as you go through this, the main focus is on the recent expenditure carried out by the current owner since his purchase of the car in 2017.
Believed built in the early 1990s with the first mention of Cobra on the MOT test certificate of September 25th 1992.
The car has had a clock change at some point, but even allowing for this, the total mileage is circa 4000 miles since its construction.
Gravetti GE427 on the V5C as registered 01/ 10/ 1972 which was the donor Jag. It's fitted with a Ford 351 Cleveland, Ford 4 Speed Toploader, Jag IRS and double wishbone front suspension.
Bought back in 2017, the current owner has a small collection of cars. He's selling a few cars to make some room, as a house move at the end of the year means less garage space.
The car has circa 500 miles showing on the clock, and a quick look at the MOT history highlights that this has been a Sunday car for him, and he's.. in reality, spent far more time organising the impressive list of work shown below than actually driving it....
Recent works to the car are:
• Engine strip down clean, balanced rotating assembly (inc. Clutch), Ford blue painted block & heads and black bell housing
• New Edlebrock Performer inlet manifold & Holley 4150 Street HP carb
• Gearbox stip and new seals, bearings, selector rod bushes and shifter mount
• Dyno tuned at R. A. C. E to be easily drivable (266HP, 430Nm Torque)
• New rear Shocks SPAX
• New rear Driveshafts
• Refurbished Prop shaft
• New clutch and fitted centre push hydraulic clutch slave
• New equal-length and ceramic-coated stainless exhaust manifolds
• Reconditioned Ford 351 Cleveland 4v heads (from USA) - (Note from Ed at Shmoo Auto - I had these on my 351 engined GT40 Replica and they make the engine very desirable as it increases tuning options should you wish to go that route).
• Scorpion roller rockers and new pushrods and hydraulic lifters
• Rewire to tidy wiring behind dash and in engine bay
• Recovered dash
• New Smiths gauges with correct period bezels
• Quad side pipes (stops you from burning your leg!)
• Refurbished and painted wheels
• New period correct Lucas P700 tripod headlights
• New clear front indicators
• Period correct single unit rear lights, but LED with red brake and amber indicator
• Windscreen-mounted mirrors
