You are looking at my rare Subaru SVX, I bought this off an older lady locally who has owned it for 16 years. The car has been in regular use throughout its life and has been lovingly maintained by the village garage. They have done a great job of sourcing parts from Japan and keeping on top of things, subsequently the car in in mint condition mechanically and totally original. I bought the car with a view of restoring but sadly my other car being repainted and a looming remortgage to attend to I’m going to have to let it go.
This is a very early car built in the first six months of production, finished in desirable black over Bordeaux pearl metallic it was registered to Subaru head office Tokyo for the first year as a demonstrator. Subsequently it has all the extras including JDM only VCD 4x4 system with twin LSD and 4 wheel steering. Second owner was a subsidiary company of Subaru and was used by them from 1993 to 2005 when it was exported. First uk owner had the car from 2006 to 2008 when it was bought by the lady I bought it off. All the Japanese history, import papers, every UK mot, every bill from the village garage, previous owner history and current logbook in my name. The car is stunningly original and even has the factory original dealer keyring from its demonstrator days. The japanese MOT stickers and auction lot sticker are all still present as it was the day it was exported.
Before I bought it the car had recently had the following work
All cv boots and rubber gaiters replaced
Serpentine belt and cambelt replaced
Alternator replaced
Car has been serviced at every mot and the mot history is backed up by paperwork. Receipts present.
Four new tyres
Since my ownership I have carried out the following work for MOT
New high pressure power steering hose and fluid change
Full rear copper brake lines
Drivers side rear wheel bearing
Handbrake overhaul
Engine Oil and filter
Diff oils changed
Brand new battery
New bonnet and boot struts
New wiper blades front and rear
Bonnet wrapped in gloss black
Mirrors resprayed gloss black
Wheels refurbished in gloss black
The underside of the car is in mint original condition with zero rust, everything works as it should and stated it comes with a full mot.
The engine is runs brilliantly and is smooth and silent with no knocks or issues. The car has covered 193000km which is around 121000 miles
The interior is in excellent condition and again is very original. Three of the Alcyone mats are present but the passengers is missing, everything else is in tip top condition and everything works. The factory fitted double din sound system with cd changer and fully working electric aerial is still present. Boot carpet is all present along with Japanese space saver and original toolkit.
I have gone through this car painstakingly and have carried out a cosmetic restoration of sorts, however there is known issues as follows
As with most svx’s, especially ones finished in Bordeaux pearl the paintwork is poor. The black areas are sound, however every area of red has some form of knocks, marks or lacquer peel. I have wrapped the bonnet and wing tops to cover the worst of the peel and resprayed the mirrors black but be aware it ultimately needs a full paint job. It would be the ideal candidate for a wrap job.
I have tried to repair some bad scratches on the drivers window and have made it worse, the drivers window is now misted, it might get better with a bit more work but I’ve given up and be advised it probably needs a new window
The car needs a wheel alignment because the steering wheel isn’t straight
The hvac controls flicker and are hard to read but work as they should otherwise
The tachometer reads low, if’s documented on google that the capacitors need replacing which is a cheap simple job by all means
That’s it. The car is ready to go with only a few little niggles to sort and would make a lovely quirky daily or rolling restoration
Car can be viewed at most reasonable times, I have walk round and running videos that can be sent to interested buyers
