Description

Thanks to a certain Secret Agent, the Aston Martin DB5 needs no introduction. It is undoubtedly the most famous and recognisable Aston Martin of all time. Announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1963, production of this new model ran from July 1963 until September 1965. In that time, just 898 of these iconic coupes were produced. The standard 4. 0Ltr capacity triple SU carburetor engine had enough power to give the car a top speed of 148 mph. Early cars were fitted with a David Brown four speed manual gearbox with overdrive, with the option of a three speed automatic. From chassis number DB5/ 1340 in late 1963, the ZF five speed gearbox became standard equipment.

The build of this particular Aston Martin DB5 was completed on the 28th May 1964 and subsequently road registered on the 2nd June 1964 with registration number ‘ BGU 888B’. According to the original Aston Martin factory build sheet, this vehicle was a Demonstrator for Brooklands of Bond Street, London and originally finished in Sierra Blue with Grey Connolly Vaumol trim. Looking through the history file, it can be seen that the vehicle was returned to AML works on the 11th December 1964 for small rectification works. It then appears in the AMOC owners club register in 1967 under the ownership of C. J. Jerram. Little is then known of its history until 2011 when the current owner brought the vehicle as a project and commenced with the restoration of the car with Mark Humphries (Ex Aston Martin employee). In 2017, the car was sent to Aston Engineering Ltd to complete and has covered just over 1000 miles since.

Presented today in Snow shadow grey with Black Vaumol leather trim / Grey Alcantara headlining and Wilton carpets. Options fitted during the restoration include 4. 2Ltr engine with vantage conversion, handling kit, power steering, alloy road wheels with 3 eared Borrani spinners and a Becker Mexico radio.

To conclude, this is an opportunity to purchase a DB5 which has benefitted from a complete body off restoration and is presented in immaculate condition throughout.
