Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe

In 2015, Shelby America announced the release of 50 continuation Daytona Cobra coupes, after the success of the continuation Cobra roadsters. CSX9960 is one of these 50 cars, and a rare opportunity to own a piece of automotive history.
Each coupe was designed from the original car created by Shelby, with lead designer Peter Brock. This 1964 Daytona Cobra coupe was built to compete with Ferrari at Le Mans, winning its class in 1964, and many other events in 1965 including 25 land speed records at Bonneville.
CSX9960 is number 11 out of 50, and is one of the best specified road going GT Daytona coupes that have been built. This car was purchased in 2019/ 2020 by the current owner, and due to personal circumstances and events around the world, this car has only seen the road a few times to date, showing less than 600 total miles on the odometer (subject to minor change).
In 2024 it received a full service, check over of all suspension, and braking components, and tuned, ensuring it is fully roadworthy and fit for sale.
This Daytona is UK registered CBU 939B. it is completed in period correct livery and paint scheme, with 50th anniversary decals and additional limited equipment designated for this vehicle.
Engine & Transmission
The engine was built and supplied by Carroll Shelby Engines in Northern California; it is a machined aluminium Windsor block with 427ci stroker, with aluminium cylinder heads, valve covers, intake manifold, Cobra racing oil sump.
A Borla 8 stack EFI system is installed, and the engine is mated to Tremec TKO600HD 5 speed gearbox, delivering over 550bhp at the rear wheels. The drivetrain cost circa $70, 000 USD.
This is a very fast road car.
Wheels, Brakes, Steering and Suspension
The wheels measure 15” in diameter and sport period looking Avon classic tyres. This completes the period look. All 4 wheels use genuine ‘knock off’ wheel fixings, with the large 3 spoked wheel nut holding them firmly in place with safety wire for added security. (N. B. there are no wheel nuts, and specialist knowledge / understanding is advised).
Although period correct, the suspension is entirely new. The brakes however have been upgraded to modernised disc brakes at all 5 wheels, supplied by Wilwood Disc Brakes. This is a powered system, with very efficient breaking.
The steering is a powered rack and pinion system, with reduced bump steer and excellent road control.
Interior
The entire interior is still in near mint condition, having travelled under 600 miles since it was built. The leather racing bucket seats, are stitched with 50th anniversary and Carroll Shelby logos, to mark this rare model.
The glove box door, is signed by two legends involved with the Daytona Cobra Coupe: Peter Brock, the original designer, and Allen Grant, a prominent driver integral to the wins for Shelby in the 1960’s.
Full period correct Stuart Warner gauges are in the dash, alongside the various stainless steel flick switches controlling the lights, fans, fuel pump, and so on. All are labelled, and function perfectly, as they should.
You are surrounded by an internal roll bar, and rear deck behind suitable for luggage.
