2001 Mercedes CLK 230 Kompressor 'Elegance Edition' ULEZ Compliant
Do not be deterred by the mileage. This is without exception one of the finest CLK 230s currently for sale. The interior and exterior condition is truly impeccable for its age. I’ve owned the vehicle since December 2022. Before my ownership, the previous keeper was the spouse of former New Zealand-born Royal Air Force Pilot Ray Hanna, a founding member of the Red Arrows aerobatic display team. The vehicle was pre-registered from new and either used as a display or demonstration vehicle. The Hannas acquired the vehicle in May of 2002 when it was only 6 months old. The V5C now shows 3 previous owners, including Mercedes-Benz of Chelmsford and both Mr. and Mrs. Hanna.
The vehicle was delivered by Mercedes of Chelmsford and first registered to them in November 2001. It has a complete Mercedes-Benz of Ipswich main dealer service history up to June 2017, supported by both a stamped service book and Mercedes-Benz invoices. Since 2017, the vehicle has been maintained by Mercedes-Benz specialist Derrick Wells. The vehicle has benefited from extensive recent expenditure in excess of £7, 000. 00 since 2017, including a £4, 000. 00 body restoration in 2019, which included replacement front wings and a complete respray in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744U). All trim and seals were removed for the work, and the standard is truly exceptional.
It is highly unlikely to find an equivalent vehicle maintained to the same standard. I have a large ring-bound folder full of every receipt since new. The interior is a real standout point and truly denies its mileage. Being a late-delivered 2001 CLK 230, it benefits from being ULEZ compliant, one of the main factors that attracted me to the vehicle. Prior to this CLK, I owned an E220 W124 from 1996, again an exceptionally well-built vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. However, I was eventually pushed out of it due to the newly imposed ULEZ charge. For me, this is the closest you can get to a W124 while still being ULEZ compliant.
