EXTERIOR
Finished in a stunning coat of Guards Red, the presence of the 930 Turbo is undisputable with its pronounced arches and Whale-Tail rear spoiler now staple symbols of the iconic air-cooled generation. Having been in the careful hands of it’s current owner since 2012, and concurrently displayed in a museum no less, it presents in superb condition throughout.
Plastics and trim maintain an almost new fit, feel and integrity, with no fading or wear, whilst glass, lenses and lights remain chip and mark free.
INTERIOR
Blue leather with blue cloth and a white pinstripe is certainly an unusual specification, although given the manufacturer’s connection to Martini it doesn’t seem as peculiar as one would think. The factory sport seats appear in excellent order and provide superb support whilst functional electric adjustment and heating add an extra layer of comfort.
The familiar dash arrangement is a welcome sight, with the original airbag steering wheel and boost gauge carrying a certain retro charm, as does the factory sunroof which is a welcome addition. A period correct Panasonic Radio Cassette will have you reaching for the Now Thats What I Call 80’s soundtrack.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Upon ignition the familiar howl of the Flat 6 barks into life and settles confidently to a deep idle. Upon test the car boosts nicely and works up the rev range in earnest, although that revered turbo delivery requires total focus and attention.
Fresh from a major service at Porsche Brooklands inclusive of spark plugs and tappet adjustment the car is in fine mechanical fettle.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The traditional Fuchs wheels are finished in a tonal black and complete the retro appeal of this gorgeous 930. The painted centres and polished rims all in good order and appear in original un-restored condition, while a premium set of Pirelli P 700’s sit at each corner.
Brake discs and pads show plenty of life whilst a fluid change and new flexi hoses were just installed at the last service with Porsche Brooklands in June.
HISTORY FILE
Originally supplied by AFN Ltd of Isleworth in March of 1985, the original service book features 5 stamps from the main dealer accounting for the car’s early life.
Despite the lack of stamps, the subsequent paperwork and invoicing is as consistent and thorough as you could wish for; clearly a cherished example that was selected as Collector grade prior to export to South Africa in 2012, a sale of which our director handled.
Finding a home in a museum for the last 10 years in SA, the car has now returned to the UK where it was sent straight to Porsche Brooklands for an Inspection and Major service inclusive of new steering column top bush.
The original pre-sale Inspection sheet and every invoice thereafter is accounted for in a bulging history file; incredible provenance, recently serviced and ready to enjoy!
