Description
The chassis (GBT5) of this beautiful Rolls-Royce was completed in November 1931 and handed over to Windovers coachworks on the 7th of December of the same year where it received a stately and representative Landaulette coachwork with two additional folding seats to the back and a separation. On the 9th of February 1932, the 20/ 25 was finally handed over to its proud first owner, a Mrs Patterson near Glasgow. After a World War, numerous kilometres and probably about 6 owners, GBT5 received a thorough restoration between 1978 and 1980 by Rolls-Royce specialists C. A. R. S. in Cheltenham and it was repainted from the original black to the current black/ bordeaux. In 1995, the Rolls was sold to an enthusiast in Edinburgh who, in 1996, had all the woodwork refreshed and polished. In 2005, around 6’000 miles ago, he had the matching numbers engine inspected and the head overhauled and converted to unleaded at the same time. After a brief change of ownership in 2009, the Landaulette was taken over by the vendor in March 2010 and imported into Switzerland. After preparation for the stringent Swiss MOT requirements and a revision of the petrol tank, the car was finally MOT’d in August 2012 and registered. From then on, the Rolls-Royce was used for occasional outings and in July 2018 received an electric fuel pump as well as new brake shoes to the front. In June 2023, over 40 years after its first restoration, the coachwork was partially restored and repainted again. Now the imposing Landaulette is in good to very good overall condition showing a charming patina. The most recent veteran MOT was completed in September 2018.
