Description
Jaguar XJ12 L 5. 3 (S2): 31k Miles/ Superb Example
Launched to much acclaim in 1968, the XJ6 was the last model that Sir William Lyons had a hands-on input to the design. Lower, longer, and wider than the preceding ‘420’ model the XJ6 featured rack and pinion steering while the most common 4. 2 six-cylinder engine delivered a top speed in excess of 120mph
However, the V12 was the car of choice for those needing to get from A to B with pace and grace. The 5. 3 litre engine could, when required, propel you down the road at well over 140mph, deliver a sub-eight second 0-60mph standing start while also providing a level of comfort other manufacturers could only aspire to.
We sold this superb classic last year to a regular customer and the Jaguar has only come back to us in part-exchange for another Milestones classic – Rob likes the quality of cars we sell and level of service we provide.
Originally registered on 1st May 1974 to Hermit Industries (Dudley) who produced castings for the engineering industry the ‘XJ’ remained in family ownership for over 42 years until finally being sold in 2016 having covered just 29, 000 miles from new.
The Jaguar has continued to be cosseted in recent years and has even spent time as an exhibit in a previous owner’s house! The original Turquoise (Code 9325) paintwork & all the chrome bright work is exceptional while the interior (leather seats, wool roof-lining, deep pile carpets & walnut veneers) are all in excellent condition. Stepping into the car is truly like stepping back in time.
On the road the XJ performs as good as she looks. Following the theft of our truck I collected this car from Norwich and drove her to our showroom at Wisborough Green, a total of just over 170 miles. The Jaguar was faultless and an utter pleasure to drive, receiving waves and flashes all the way – it is like driving a flying carpet and the absolute epitome of classic car ownership.
The history folder contains a history of previous owners. Old MOT’s, invoices, old V5’s, tax discs back to 1976, original literature, owner’s handbook etc.
This is a truly exceptional car equally at home at Goodwood (be it horses, golf or motor sport), a high speed dash to the South of France or simply a cruise down to the local pub with good friends.
Viewing and a test drive is recommended in order to fully appreciate this outstanding car.
