EXTERIOR
The sparkling Estoril Blue paintwork presents beautifully, the car having been treated to a full glass-out repaint in the original colour only a few hundred miles ago. Free from any scuffs or corrosion the body is first-rate with a deep, unform shine even under close scrutiny. The headlights are clear and free from moisture ingress, the rubber seals show no sign of perishing, and the trims are spot-on throughout. The 17-inch M RoadStar wheels are painted in the correct Chrome Shadow finish unique to the S54 model, and the tyres are Goodyear all round. The underside is also notably tidy, remaining very solid with no rust issues. The car further benefits from a period AC Schnitzer exhaust and preventative boot floor reinforcement. All in all, a stunning and rare non-sunroof S54 M Coupe defying both its years and mileage.
INTERIOR
The deeply bolstered M sports seats are trimmed very tastefully in Black Nappa leather with Dark Grey accents. Having never required any restorative work the upholstery remains in excellent original condition and is still soft to the touch. Other commonly worn items such as the M leather gear knob and steering wheel also present very well with no major wear or discolouration. The switchgear is unmarked, and everything works as it should including the air conditioning which has just been re-gassed. The car is further equipped with heated seats and the Harman/ Kardon hi-fi sound system. The original BMW Business radio, retractable rear load cover, and BMW first aid kit are retained.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Out of the 6, 291 Z3M Coupes built, just 165 were produced in right-hand drive with the lauded S54 engine – all were manual. This lovely 90k mile example still feels really tight to drive, and under the bonnet she’s very tidy indeed. Services have been carried out at the following mileages: 1, 173 – 15, 883 – 30, 336 – 41, 662 – 48, 276 – 54, 626 – 59, 591 – 66, 065 – 85, 543 – 86, 773 – 87, 703 – and most recently at 88, 446 miles. A full mechanical inspection has just been completed, and for additional peace of mind the car will receive a major Inspection II service upon sale. A new clutch was fitted at 87k miles.
HISTORY FILE
The attractive S54 M Coupe was first registered in October 2001. Within the accompanying History File the lucky new owner will be presented with the original BMW document wallet and all handbooks, the service book with 12 stamps, a thick raft of invoices and MOT certificates, a clean HPI report, an original BMW Z3 price list, and the V5C showing 6 former keepers.
