One of the best we have seen
Amazing amount of paperwork
Been a very cherished car
Maybe the best colour combination

We are extremely pleased to bring this stunning RS Cosworth to market, which has come to us from a very big fast Ford collection. However, this is no ordinary Cosworth - this is the very rare and induvial Rouse 304-R. Andy Rouse was the Ford works driver of the time and was commissioned by Ford to create these special cars. The idea was to build 100 of them, but in fact only 78 were built. This was nothing to do with the car and more to do with the UK going into recession in 1991, which had a great effect on everything. This example is number 45 of the 78 and was completed in November 1990 by Rouse Sport, and registered by the Ford dealer Peacocks on 18/ 12/ 1990 to its first and really only owner. The Ford changed ownership on 20/ 2/ 2024 but this was only done to take off the private plate that was on it from new. So, in reality it is a one owner Cosworth, which makes this a very rare example.

The paperwork is vast on this RS with copies of the original V5s from DVLA, the original invoice from Peacocks showing all the build details and confirming it cost a grand total of £31, 760. Adding in the cost of the Rouse conversion makes it somewhere near £40, 000 in its day, which is a lot of money even by today’s standards. The paperwork goes on with a huge number of receipts and invoices, both from Ford dealers and for various parts that have been replaced over the years, including one for an engine rebuild at a cost of £5298. 67, as well as details of paint rectification along the way. The vehicle has been very well looked after and has spent some time in storage, but the correct storage. There are a lot of photographs showing some of the recommissioning carried out along with a collection of older MOTs and lots of other paperwork from Peacocks and Rouse Sport. In fact, the collection of paperwork is vast and will take a long time to go through, which is a wonderful thing to have with any car but especially an RS Cosworth. The paperwork carries on with details of Ford Owner’s Club details and information on the tracker system fitted.

The specification is completely standard and is finished in the best colour of Moonstone Blue, which at the time was the individual colour for RS Cosworths. The RS has the correct body kit, which is slightly different on the Rouse to standard Cosworth. The paintwork is impeccable and would give you the impression that this is a 20, 000 mile example. The interior is exactly the same - clean, tidy and all as it should be. Like most cars, if you wanted to find fault we are sure you could, but where would you? Take it for what it is. The specification carries on with a Ford CD player fitted to complement the radio cassette, and it has the very rare option of the wooden door trims - an extra that a lot people didn’t know existed, yet alone have seen. This is all finished off with the Rouse Sport engine plaque fitted in the engine bay, which again is very clean and tidy as you would expect from a car of this quality.

If you have any thoughts about buying a fast Ford, this one must be on your wish list. As we have already said, this is not your average RS Cosworth. This is the Rouse Sport model with the 4 wheel drive system, a history that any classic car would be proud to have, and in stunning condition. It is probably one of the best Sierra Cosworths we have ever seen and we are pleased to offer it to the classic car world. If you wish to come and see the RS, you are welcome to do so at our purpose built auction rooms in Cheshire. Hopefully you will agree with us and enjoy what a great and desirable car this really is - see you soon!
