Description
Hard to believe that Giugiaro designed the Esprit over 45 years ago and was in production for an amazing 30 years finishing as the V8 in 2004.
It was a stunning car well received by the motoring press and enthusiasts alike and its showing in the James Bond movie “The spy who loved me ” put it on the world map especially as it doubled as a submarine in the film!
This is an S2 example launched in 1978 and with only 1000 built a very rare version of this iconic car.
Finished in Gloss black, from new with Magnolia leather it is undoubtedly one of the best looking Esprits and still exciting today.
A comprehensive restoration has been carried out within the past 8 years which included engine rebuilt to 2. 2 spec (better power than the original 2 litre) gearbox, wiring, suspension, brakes, Haywood and Scott stainless steel exhaust and manifold, galvanised chassis and of course a very high-quality body/ paint refinish looking better than in 1979.
There are 3 history files with invoices dating back to the 1980s to date, mots, handbooks, and of course more recent work carried out.
Original handbooks and lots of photos of the restoration etc
Sometimes these cars are economically restored and it really shows but this one is a different quality with great attention to detail down to underside, engine bay interior etc.
On the road, the Esprit really impresses with under 1000 kg and a throaty twin cam engine providing an exciting drive with one of the most balanced chassis of all time
