EXTERIOR
Looking sharp in the classic Racing Green paintwork, this ‘67 TR4A presents very nicely indeed. Having been treated to total chassis-up restoration in 1986 at 31k miles, albeit an older re-build, the car still appears in fine condition throughout, not perfect but still a testament to the thorough work carried out. This example comes with the Surrey Top with both soft and hard top covers. Finer details such as the rubber seals and trims are in good order, and the chrome elements are very solid with only minor patination. The wheels have been upgraded to 15-inch Minilite alloys wearing Michelin radial tyres.
INTERIOR
The interior space feels very original throughout. The black seats are in excellent condition with no sagging or tears to be found, as are the black carpets which remain in fine order. The attractive wooden dashboard is free from any sun damage and the beautiful original banjo steering wheel is a joy to operate. This example features the 4-speed gearbox with overdrive. Within the boot area you will find the spare wheel, soft-top, and indoor car cover.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Lifting the bonnet you will find a very presentable bay housing the original 2, 138cc inline 4 engine. This was subject to a total re-build in 1986 including new valves, camshaft, timing chain and uprated clutch. In more recent years work includes a replacement aux belt, float chamber gasket, oil changes, spark plug replacement, and tuning of the carbs. Upon arrival, our trusted workshop inspected the vehicle and were very impressed with the solid underside condition and drive. They replaced the rocker cover gasket and gave it a fresh oil and filter change.
HISTORY FILE
This beautiful TR4A was first registered in July 1967; quite remarkably its only had 2 keepers from new, the current having purchased it in 2018. Within the history file you will find photographic evidence of the restoration from 1986, a Triumph manual and service booklet, MOT certificates dating back to 1998, Concours judging form, a list (and photos) of Trophies won from various events throughout the ‘90s, as well as a handful of recent invoices for service work and replacement parts.
