Description
An excellent example of the final itineration of the Berliners Boxer featuring the well-mannered injected version of the flat 12 engine along with better build quality and improved uprated ancillaries. This UK supplied right hand drive example features a lovely colour combination of Chiaro Blue with Crema leather and dark blue carpets, it has covered less than 43, 000 miles and comes with a full and comprehensive history from new to date.
The Boxer was ordered when new through Maranello Concessionaires by London Ferrari main dealer HR Owen on behalf of their customer, Sahir Ahmad Alibinelli, a resident of Eaton Square, London. An habitual Ferrari buyer, it was his tasteful choice of specification we see today which included the options of no black bottom to the coachwork, no cloth seat inserts and a full leather headlining – all this being noted on the original order on file from HR Owen/ Maranello Concessionaires.
The supplying invoice and original stamped service book confirm delivery was made to this first owner on the 2nd of August 1983. He kept the car for just over a year, selling it in November 1984, tempted no doubt by the new and exciting Testerossa model and since then a number of enthusiasts have enjoyed the Boxer. Importantly, all appeared to have looked after it well as noted in the stamped service book and detailed in the copious invoicing and correspondence on file.
Last year the Boxer was purchased by the last owner, a regular Hairpin customer and very fastidious collector who carefully chooses and restores his cars to ensure he has the best examples. To this end he purchased the Boxer as a good original example with matching numbers in his preferred colour scheme and great history. As usual he then decided to take the car to another level and hence commissioned a full inspection and strip down. All parts were examined and replaced or refurbished as necessary, the drivetrain was removed and the chassis was cleaned, checked and re-protected as were all other underbody components. The interior was stripped out and the body repainted in the original colour, upon re-assembly the interior was retrimmed or treated and re-connolised where required. The drivetrain underwent a major service with new cam belts and the engine bay fully detailed. An invoice on file from Ferrari specialists Kent High Performance Cars amounting to £33, 000 fully details the work completed.
Today the car presents in excellent order as one would expect and it does not disappoint on the drive, everything operating correctly with a fluency indicating that the recent work completed was done by those who know. It comes with the above-mentioned complete history file, all books in the correct wallet, original Ferrari UK sales brochure, all tools and keys.
