This beautiful Mustang fastback comes with the all-important Marti Report confirming that it was scheduled for build at Ford's Metuchen, New Jersey plant on 30th August 1966. The car was originally finished in Nightmist Blue with matching vinyl bucket seats and was despatched to Steuart Motor Co in New York, Washington State. Its subsequent history in the USA is not known, although when shipped to the UK in 2015 it was resident in the dry state of Arizona and was rust-free.

The Mustang was shipped to the UK and registered by the owner of Pomona Cars in January 2015, and was sold to our vendor in July 2017. Before then, Pomona Cars had extensively restored and upgraded the Mustang, installing a 351ci (5, 754cc) Ford Cleveland V8 engine and a rebuilt AOD four-speed overdrive manual transmission complete with shift kit. They also repainted the Mustang Forest Green as a homage to the iconic Bullitt Mustang of Steve McQueen. The car has effectively been rebuilt from the ground upwards - suspension, interior, chrome, wheels/ tyres, and air conditioning system all receiving attention.

Since the car's acquisition by our vendor the following works have been commissioned: brake servo conversion (March 2018); modify gearbox rear mount (August 2021); fix leaking differential oil seal, fit new prop shaft, adjust camber (September 2021); and fit new heater matrix, tune engine (December 2021). The Cleveland V8 engine boasts roller rockers; a Crane camshaft; flat-top pistons; Edelbrock inlet manifold and carburettors; Headman headers; billet pulleys; and a variable-setting ignition system. Other notable features include Shelby valve covers and air cleaner, and a Flowmaster hand-rolled exhaust. Only some 2, 000 miles have been covered since the engine was rebuilt in 2014. The running gear too has been upgraded, featuring air shock absorbers at the rear to enable adjustment of the ride height.

At time of its purchase in 2017 the car was inspected by Essex Mustang Centre, which concluded that it was "one of the best refurbishments available in the UK today" (report on file). Since then the Mustang has been kept garaged, covering a mere 1, 120 miles in the last seven years as the owner has six other classic cars competing for his attention, plus this one's younger brother - a 2018 Bullitt Mustang: "It's time to let someone else enjoy it!" Accompanying documentation consists of sundry post-acquisition receipts and MoT to June 2025.
