Finished in Performance Red with black Mustang GT trim and Recaro racing seats, this Mustang Cobra R is number '252' of only 300 built by the Special Vehicle Team at Ford. The Cobra R represented the wildest, fastest and most expensive Mustang ever produced when it rolled off the production line in 2000. A road-legal race-car, designed for the track, it is powered a hand-built normally aspirated 5. 4-litre V8 engine producing 385bhp and can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4. 7 seconds. Never raced, the car has had only one known previous owner and has been securely garaged since purchase; it is believed to be the only 2000 Cobra R in the UK and comes with a special 'V8' numberplate.
There is an extensive history file containing all original documents including the Cobra R owner's supplement and original logbook/ maintenance guide, plus original brochures, etc. The Mustang also comes with the original limited-edition 'black binder', presented with each car at purchase, which includes the original welcome letter, special build photographs, technical specifications, engineering material, performance documentation, special metal VIN plaque, original press releases, and the original Certificate of Authenticity for build '252'.
This car was featured in a Classic Ford and Fast Ford magazines joint special 'collectors' edition on the Ford Mustang, a copy of which mat be found in the aforementioned folder. The car was also featured in Round Up, the official magazine for the Mustang Owners' Club Great Britain (copy on file).
The Mustang is original and comes with all its original factory parts. The headlights were replaced to make the car UK-legal, but the original headlights were retained and are included in the sale. The previous owner also fitted a newer BORLA exhaust system, but the original factory BORLA exhaust system was retained and comes with the car. There is also a spare wheel and accompanying jack in the boot. The previous owner had the car's underside professionally treated to protect it from rust/ damage. Full details of this work (including photographs on CD-ROM) may be found in the history file. Other paperwork includes sundry bills, and a V5C document. This rare and desirable Cobra R is waiting to grace its next owners collection.
