CONDITION
Naturally, being the range-topper for what is already an exclusive product means this SL600 has been well cared for over the years, presenting in extremely good condition today. Following our workshop’s mechanical inspection, we found nothing to report, underlining the care and attention that has gone into this car in recent years – a testament to those who have been fortunate enough to call it their own.
HISTORY
The accompanying history file contains a neatly laid out folder with old service bills, MOTs, a hand-written record of ownership history and more. It also contains the original bill of sale from Mercedes Benz, confirming that the first owner who was based in London took delivery of the car from the factory in Stuttgart, and paid nearly a quarter of a million Deutsche Marks (remember those?) at the time, too.
SUMMARY
Opportunities like this don’t come along very often. When this car was new in 2000, the price put it in the same territory as some models from Ferrari, Aston Martin and the like - you really needed to know your stuff if you were to opt of the discretion offered by the V12 Mercedes over the more ‘obvious’ competition. That makes the SL600 an extremely rare beast, rarer still to find one in such good condition.
