Produced by Velocette between 1965 and 1971, the Thruxton was revealed at the 1964 Earls Court Show as the final development of Velocette's antiquated pushrod single, the Venom. Sometimes referred to as the Venom Thruxton or simply Thruxton. Due to the high values involved and possibility of fakes, a register was established by a member of the Velocette Owner’s Club.
On offer is a 1969 Velocette Truxton that was despatched from the Velocette works on the 31st July 1968 to a dealer Pike in Plymouth with invoice number 78600 and tab number being 3710. It was sold to the new owner Mr R. J Davis from Cornwall on the 6th August 1968. A very short time after purchase Mr Davis had an accident with the Velocette and it was very seriously damaged. The motorcycle was repairable and was recovered by J. Bowen & Sons of Llanhaden, Pembrokeshire and they purchased the machine. They ordered a factory replacement frame and forks directly from the factory and the Thruxton was built to ‘as new’ condition. It was re-registered in late 1969 with the new frame number RS 19711. The new owner was a Mr Bob Spokes of Oxford with a new registration number being ‘SDE 41H’. Then sold a few years later to Mr Mortimer, it was then purchased by the current vendor.
It has not been used for some time and will require some refurbishment before placing it back on the road. It comes complete with a V5C, a letter from the Thruxton Owner’s Club confirming the full details and confirming this is a genuine Velocette Thruxton.
